August 2023 Wood-firing


The Workshop begins with the kiln loading. We will spend a morning glazing, then another full day carefully wadding and positioning all of the wares into the kiln. The door will then be bricked up, and we will begin to fire come early evening. Although firing schedules vary each time, the kiln will generally finish up after 40 hours of firing. The unloading of the kiln will take place the following Friday. Kiln shares consists of 4 cubic feet, and include access to studio glazes. August 2023 Wood-Firing-Outside Artists Opportunity
$225.00

Please note this is different from the workshop and does not include the educational daytime hours with Mike. This kiln share is designed for experienced artists who are willing to take on a minimum of 1 firing shift between the hours of 4pm-10am. Mike is available for advice and will spend time with you getting you prepared and comfortable for you shift but you will need to work a shift alone outside of workshop hours. Each firing shift is 6 hours long. Kiln shares are 4 cubic feet, and includes use of glazes, wadding, and sea shells. Artists are also required to help move wood to prepare for the next potter’s shift. Glazing and loading August 3rd and 4th, Firing until Sunday August 6th at approximately 3 pm.
